Campaigning for a Ford Station Cycle Path

ford station cycle path

The Arundel to Ford Station cycle and walking route is an initiative I wholly support.  The scheme will make journeys by bike and foot much safer and has been identified as the biggest priority for Arundel residents.  I have been pleased to work with the Arundel Mayor and other civic leaders in supporting this project.

A report produced by Arundel Town Council Cycling and Walking Group makes the compelling case for why the route need to be built.  Ford Station - used by many schoolchildren to access Secondary schools - needs to be made safer so it can be used by everyone.

The delivery will require a multi-agency approach with some combination of West Sussex County Council, Arun District Council, Network Rail and Highways England all working together.  The Government has made £2 billion for schemes with an ambitious strategy set out in July 2020 'Gear Change - A bold vision for cycling and walking'.

I will be working with all the stakeholders to help make the case for funding to deliver the route.
